Cut wire? On wheelhouse commando 7

Recommended Posts

Mattthetrac

I was cleaning up a bunch of oil around the tractor and on the front right side of the engine I found a wire that has been cut or destroyed somehow. I am wondering if it is important to get my tractor to start. Any info is greatly appreciated.

I have no idea what you are circling. :scratchead: See if you can find where the wire originates.

I do not own the model you are working on so a bit more information could help figure this out. I your previous post you said you were charging the battery to find out what was and wasn't working as it should. So tell us, what is working and what isn't working, that will help us to figure out what the mystery wire goes to.

Your engine is a Lauson V70 which was bought out by Tecumseh.

I was unable to find a wiring diagram for your model but the 1969 Workhorse model has a 7 HP Tecumseh engine which has a horizontal crankshaft (yours is a vertical crankshaft) but the wiring may be similar enough to help figure this out. According to the drawing there are only three small wires going to your engine, what color is the cut wire?

Looks to me either red or orange.

I have identified the cable as the ignition ground wire and will purchase new wire to reconnect the two ends.

It was indeed the ignition ground wire. Thank you for all the help and I will probably keep asking questions😂

Matthetrac: This is how you learn to work on them. It’s always handy to have extra wire and normal things like that so problems come up you’re ready. Enjoy the project.

Thank you for the follow-up, to let us know what it was.  Many times we never know what happened!  :eusa-clap:

Keep on asking questions.  That is how we learn  - the only dumb question is the one that you don't ask.
