Mattthetrac 12 #1 Posted July 23 Hi. I'm a kid and just got my first Wheel Horse. I'm new to all this but want to try to get it running. I have a trickle charger on the battery now and am exploring it. I THINK the seat is supposed to flip toward the back but can't figure out how it works. Are there clips or some release or something? 5

Horseoholic 233 #4 Posted July 23 (edited) Hello and welcome, I have a 1970 Commando V8 that is pretty similar to yours, if yours is like mine, look under the rear of the fender on the right side, there "should" be a rod with a bent round curl on the end that you can stick your finger in and pull it toward you, while holding it after pulling, tilt the seat back towards you. Hopefully this can help you. By the way that is a nice project tractor, just a little warning ..... the transmissions in these Commando V7 & V8's are an oddball transmission, the transmissions are a "front loader" shifter type (transmission shifter mounts towards front of transmission) where other Wheel Horses are located on the top of Transmission. These Commando V7 & V8 transmissions are hard to find if you are in need of one and as far as I know other than some seals and bearings, parts for these transmissions are rare to find. adsm08 3,266 #11 Posted July 23 Once you get power to it, either getting that battery to take a charge, or getting a new one, I would disconnect the spark plug wire from, the plug, stick a screw driver in it, and hold the shaft of the screw driver near a metal part of the tractor, preferably something on the engine, while someone cranks the engine. Look for a snappy blue spark arcing from the driver to the tractor. This is a good test of the ignition coil.
