JCM 10,170 #1 Posted Monday at 09:44 PM My NAPA # 8229 U1L 370 CA / 300 CCA finally gave up. This past weekend in Northern Maine where my old C-165 now resides with a battery dated 6/17 sad to say is done. No complaints with this one. It was replaced with the same numbers. We shall see, probably won't make it like the old one did.

ri702bill 9,332 #3 Posted Monday at 10:29 PM Only useful as a core to trade in now. Compare the new battery warranty to that of the old - probably 6 to 12 months....
lynnmor 7,786 #4 Posted Monday at 10:39 PM You can buy a 350 CCA battery made by East Penn for about the same price as the lesser NAPA 300 CCA that is also made by East Penn.

Depends on the market area. I stopped buying batteries at my local box/chain stores because the pricing was high and available CCA ratings were low.

Or put on a real battery charger occasionally? Removed from tractor in the winter and stored indoors, or left in the machine all year round. Or…sheer luck

JimSraj 511 #10 Posted Tuesday at 02:42 PM I have a similar situation with a pair of 6V Interstate batteries that I had installed in my 1974 MGB in Feb. of 2018. They finally have given up. Problem is that neither Interstate nor Deca (East Penn) makes them anymore. Been searching the internet with no good results. 1

Most Duracell batteries are made by East Penn, Interstate doesn't make batteries. I don't know what size you need. One example

I still see the Interstate battery truck roll through town, and I used to be a dealer (closed in 2020) I stocked U1L and U1R plus a few other common tractor sizes (I think a couple were 26 and/or 24 group size) Although they were more expensive but had better CCA's , these days I just run by Tractor Supply and grab whatever's on sale... Even 6V batteries are still made. Tractor Supply carries "Traveller Powered by Interstate 6V 640 CCA Heavy-Duty Battery".
JimSraj 511 #13 Posted Tuesday at 08:58 PM The two 6 volt batteries that were in the car are 17HF.

The Traveller batteries are made in China. But they get distributed from Dallas, Texas. From here they get exported into different countries. In fact, Universal Power Group is one of the largest battery distributors in Texas and the USA.

Ah . clarification .. they don't *manufacture* their own batteries... (they contract with other manufacturers such as Exide and Clarios, for two) I had thought you meant the brand wasn't into batteries..
lynnmor 7,786 #16 Posted 14 hours ago Yep, you are only paying extra for the overpriced label.
JimSraj 511 #17 Posted 14 hours ago FYI The Tractor Supply website lists the Traveler powered by Interstate 6V 640CCA as made in the USA. Deca (East Penn) is right here in the Lehigh Valley I’m pretty sure they make them here.
