Definitely.

It's time is coming up soon.

This is the second time (I think)  this has happened.

Obviously the proper prevention would be .. assembly...   😉

Reminds me of a story my tech school instructor told us.

This old lady, who did not drive in bad weather, had her car towed to the dealership in the spring, after it sat in the garage all winter, because it wouldn't start.

They found string, completely packing the engine, from the air cleaner to the intake valves.

We had a customer that parked a mid 80s GM truck for a few months.

Started but barely ran. This was a model with the HD 350 engine so it had a huge round air cleaner housing.

Inside the air cleaner, wrapped all the way around the filter, was well over 2 quarts of acorns.

A few years ago we had a newer Ranger brought in for a rattle noise on acceleration. Customer had been out of town for a few weeks around the holidays, so truck had been parked, and the noise was new when they returned.

Is that the air cleaner box? Makes me wonder what was the source for all that?!

That’s the little known Ford "popcorn hopper" accessory...

EPA banned it shortly after introduction. Apparently too much greenhouse gas was emitted following use. Not from the vehicle, but from the consumer...

You sure about that :scratchead:  looks like Ford's idea to cut out the middleman and add ethanol to gasoline

It was the air cleaner. A rodent, probably a mouse, was bringing it in and storing it there. It's not all that hard for small rodents to get into a Ford air cleaner, because most of them have a cold-air ram that comes right up at the bottom of the hood.

A lot of my shop's customers live in a farming area, so in the winter it isn't uncommon for us to see air boxes full of grain, kibble, or chewed up air filters. We also see lots of rodent damage repairs. One time I was working on an Edge for a transmission concern with circuit codes. I could see from the top that the wiring had been chewed. While I was lifting it to get better access a rabbit face-planted onto the floor from the engine diaper.
