Teddy da Bear62 95 #1 Posted July 6 (edited) I was replacing the battery in one of my D-250's. I made sure I bought same size, same positive/negative terminal orientation. But the new one isn't going in!! It's almost as if it's 1/16" longer! And it doesn't help that the Gutbrod people crammed 10lbs of crap in a 5lb box!! I've got the steel battery hold down knob (for lack of a better term) riding right against the glass radiator overflow bottle! I can see one significant bounce of the tractor and that glass bottle is history. I'm sure you guys are smarter than I and bought even smaller batteries. I just didn't think this would be an issue when I bought same size battery that was in there. ( ummmmmm + a 1/16"). I think I'm going to commit a sacralidge to D-250 owners everywhere..... But I'm going to cut off the battery hold down knob. It's a dumb thing anyway. That battery has nowhere to go! Edited July 6 by Teddy da Bear62
wallfish 18,053 #2 Posted July 7 How about a picture of what's going on? Not too many of us have D-250s
lynnmor 7,788 #3 Posted July 7 Is that a U1 battery?

I have circled the battery hold down knob in red. There is just so much crammed together, it makes it difficult to get a clear photo.
squonk 43,713 #5 Posted July 7 One issue is they make the plastic case the battery is made out of thinner and thinner, Then you buy a higher capacity battery so they have to pack more plates in the thin case. The result is a battery with bulging sides.
