courtneysg3 0 #1 Posted June 30 hello everyone my name is Sean and I am having a little trouble with setting the governor after I turned the rod that connects to the engine all the way to the right it is a briggs and stratton 28m707-0122-01 made in 1995 on a Toro Wheel Horse 13-38 hxl. I also tried to turn the governor rod all the way to the left it still behaves the same. it sounds like it is about to throw a rod and I can't control the engine speed with the throttle. anybody know how to fix it so that it won't race out of control. I am not sure which way I should turn it. I hope that I didn't ruin my engine ,by messing with that rod.

Achto 29,351 #3 Posted June 30 (edited) Loosen the arm that controls the throttle for the carburetor, rotate it so that the throttle is wide open, turn the governor shaft in the same direction until it stops. I believe that everything should be held counter clockwise at this point. While holding the arm and the shaft at full throttle, tighten the locking bolt on the arm.
