Hauled in a couple

Recommended Posts

Sparky

Bought these 2 today.. C-81 and a 1973 10-8 speed. Neither run, not sure what I’ll do with em. Bought cheap and were only 5 miles from home. While I was there I spotted a 42” RD shell that was brand new. For another $20 that came home with me.
Strange electric lift thingy on the 10 horse machine. Factory??

Other than a quick spray off I haven’t spent any time on either.

Are you asking if the C-81 is for sale?

I don’t plan to keep both, so most likely one or both will end up for sale.
I need to spend a little time on each and determine the condition. I’m on business travel next week to California. When I get back I’ll see what’s up.

You are officially first in line :handgestures-thumbupright:

That big block 10 won't fit under the hood of the 875 without mods.

From what I understand that's pretty rare and definitely valuable.

A short frame tractor needs the shallow pan and modified or special connecting rod for the big block to fit

I think he was talking about the K-181. I think it was short blocked at some point. I see gray paint.

For the size they are absolute torque monsters.

Run great.

Start nice.

Sip fuel.

Excellent engines.

I think so, at least that model. Seen a bunch of the newer ones that go on Classic 300/400 series. I've only ever seen one of that type down here in NC.

Very nice haul by the way. Whole lotta parts if nothing else.

But for reference…

the steering arm just needed a little help to swing around the oil pan dipper on this shaker plate pan bolted to the frame…

@Sparky   that deck looks sweet , perfect stage for a lubrication , SUN SOAK ,  found  once you establish that on a deck , like this , you establish SALVATION , instead  of rustafacation , my decks , hold little to no grass , like a 2 stage oil down  , lighter  chain and cable spray  , for initial soal / creep  base , then a heavier  open gear spray  , that bakes on  with heat  , combine that with a spindle upgrade rebuild , eliminate all original  " grease " , do all  related , bearings with  lucas xtra hd , green  , mule drive , pto lever start  , improvement , been road testing that set up for years , no noise or failures , deck spin up is  ridiculous , no squealing  or whyining . just a suggestion , hot deck in the sun , pete

Like EB said because they pack a pretty good punch for the package???

Odd that I just had three 181's come through with a service block. They're all good runners too.

Stevebo already beat me too it Sparky but I have a deck that somebody tried to convert to a SD. I actually stuck some new parts from KB in it but cut like a POS. Blew grass out every where but the SD. Yours if you want it just needs a new shell.

Nice haul :thumbs2:
