BrianX128 109 #1 Posted June 13 I've got a magnum 14 in my c141, it's been years since I did the swap. The other day I noticed it wasn't charging. I looked at the voltage regulator [the old brick style the k series all had] and noticed there were 0 wires hooked to it, no AC leads and nothing to the battery. I was a bit confused, so I looked at what was coming out of the motor. There's one black with a pink stripe wire coming out to a fuse in a plastic housing. The connections were super corroded, I just sanded that and clicked it back together. Followed it to keyed battery +, shrugged and started it and it's charging again. I didn't think any of these had DC straight charging, I know a few of my old briggs 12hps had like a 4.5amp dc one wire like this. Was this ever factory or did someone else do something I do and just shove stuff together and see what happens? On the positive side I have another working oem regulator for my 2 K series engines in the other 2 mowers. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

953 nut 60,541 #3 Posted June 14 The three amp charging system has a diode connected directly to the stator wire coming from the engine.
