Darn gumballs!

While mowing last week, the blade speed suddenly dropped and the M14 started laboring some.  I went to the shop and pulled inside and got on the floor to look under the deck.  I turned a blade and all 3 blades turned together smoothly but with some resistance.  That told me it wasn't anything severely damaged.

I locked up and went in the house for supper as I was beat from riding the 314-8 for 3 hours in the heat and humidity.  The bouncing around also aggravates my arthritis.  It was a 200mg Celebrex and 2mg diazepam night, lol.

When I finally got around to pulling the 48" deck from under the tractor and removed the belt/pulley covers, I found the deck belt had been thrown off the center pulley downwards and between the deck and pulley pinching it.  I lifted the belt and turned another pulley and the belt dropped back in the groove and everything then turned smoothly.  Yay!

Both the PTO and deck belts were in sad shape and needed replacement.  I'll fix them today as the grass did not stop growing while the machinery was down.

Oh yeah, I did forget that little item!

The gumball was found under the left belt cover, with an obvious indentation from going through something.

I ended up replacing all the parts except the idler pulley of the deck belt tensioner.  I had replaced the idler one or two mowing seasons ago.
