Red_Texan 4 #1 Posted Tuesday at 03:29 PM (edited) All, Am I going crazy or did someone post a deck compatibility chart recently. If I remember correctly it showed different brands/models of decks that would fit with the different WH set-ups. I am looking to find a larger deck for my 310-8 (currently running a 37" side discharge) but don't want to pay the outrageous prices for a WH model.. Additionally , I am curious on the largest deck that would run efficiently on the 310. I have plenty of acres to mow but dont want to go too big for engine. Any thoughts? oliver2-44 10,549 #2 Posted Tuesday at 03:37 PM Following Along, I've never heard of an aftermarket or different brand of deck fitting a WH. The exception being a few people have customized some heavy duty zero turn decks.
nylyon-(Admin) 7,825 #3 Posted Tuesday at 03:38 PM Biggest I would go on a 310 is a 42”, 48” will physically fit, but the little 10hp would struggle a little bit.

It is strange that no one attempted to jump into the attach-mattic platform.. I wish I was handy enough to customize one because the prices are insane. Thanks for the info, I was foolishly hoping I could go bigger but even the 42" would be worth the upgrade.

Absolutely agreed. I ran a 42 side discharge for years with no issue. I have stuck the 48 under there a couple times, and as Karl said the M10 carried it, but it struggled in thicker grass. A 42 side or rear discharge is a nice match with a 310-8. Very strong and gives a nice cut.
Brockport Bill 1,888 #9 Posted Tuesday at 11:14 PM if the $ are an issue then here is a suggestion --- if you are patient and you expand your geographic radius beyond your immediate home town area.... and willing to drive a couple hours, then suggest you look for a 50-75 dollar used worn ugly 42 deck -- either sd or rd --- ( I avoid decks with rust through holes ) then do your own rehab to make it a quality functioning long term solution for your 310 - Yes, they can be hard to find but somewhere an estate, or some eager seller, will be found selling one under market $ value -- then it's your labor time.... and maybe some modest cost for its rehab - - but then you have a deck for another 10-20 years - the spindle bearings are 8-10 dollars -- maybe a new pulley torsion bar is needed, or perhaps a $60 dollar pulley or new belt or blades etc.... but many of those expenses are routine maintenance costs for whatever deck you have now -- You can clean off rust with power wire brush attachment or use a 90 degree grinder with a sanding disc ---- Or maybe even spend $100 for sand blasting the deck to bare metal to remove the rust before painting - however, i see those "costs" as not as "net" added expenses but investment in a future tool that lasts for 25-30 mowings per year - here are a couple before and after rehab photos 2
Brockport Bill 1,888 #10 Posted Tuesday at 11:26 PM added note -- i do not just take and randomly spray over rust with can of red paint like some might do -- i remove belt covers - dissemble deck parts and lift carriage assembly - replace spindle bearings or pulleys as necessary - new wheels and/or rollers if needed - often replace with new bolts hardware - sometimes new decals, etc Good luck
Ed Kennell 41,270 #11 Posted Tuesday at 11:40 PM Want a bigger cut and don't want to buy a bigger tractor or deck. Buy two 5 HP 20" push mowers and make a 70" wide towing gang mower. 1 1

I would absolutely work my way through one but being on the west coast I do not see hardly any available. I am always on ebay with an eye open but am trying to avoid shipping. If I spot a 42" I will definitely make the grab!
