I cant find the model #

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone...

I just got this old wheel horse tracter...It runs and cuts the grass but it needs alot of TLC... The hood is all bent up and missing the orniment...dangit!...and other things like that. So, in order for me to restore it or at least have it looking good I need a Model number. There is a tag on the motor ( a ten horse Kohler ) but the serial and model are both scratched off....Is there another location on the tracter that I can find a tag or something?

Look under the hoodstand(below the steering wheel and throttle/choke controls) or on the side of the hoodstand. The ID tag is usually black, about 1"tall and 2" long.

If you cant find it either post a pic or give us tons of details.

I will try to help:

1) In front of the shifter, below the dash.

2) Left side below where your knee would be, if you were sitting on the tractor.

Those are my guesses and good luck.

Hi, Pat, and :hide: !

If the ID tag has been scratched off or isn't readable, then like the guys said, post a bunch of pictures and the gang will help identify it for you. If it runs and mows already, it certainly can be rebuit/restored!

Good luck!

Pat :scratchead:

You probally have a 1972 charger 10 automatic. The model # for that year is

1-0410. That will be the type of number your looking for on the data plate.

Pat,

check this link

http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/index.php?...posting+picture

in a nutshell

sign up for a photobucket account (free)

upload your pic to your photobucket album ( it now stores your pic)

copy and paste the IMG code (address of your pic in the photobucket site) into your post ( allows your post to download your pic from photobucket when someone views your post)

pretty straight forward once you get the "concept"

Pat...for those painted over decals, a good trick is use acetone and a washcloth and gently rub off the paint with out hurting the decal. :scratchead:

The I.D. tags are gone...I see evidence of rusted rivets on the left side but that is about all.

She got her first oil change at her new home today and from the looks of the old oil she realy needed it! The air filter was clogged with grass and the plug was old.... all new parts and it starts right up now.

I cant wait till i find a snow blade for it.
