JCD 76 #1 Posted June 6 Hey guys, I've got a 312-8 from 1990 with a 37" side discharge deck that has a double bagger. My blades are cutting poorly and I need to find some kind of replacement, do you think these medium lift blades would work with my bagger? https://www.amazon.com/Stens-Medium-Lift-Blade-350-157-109918/dp/B001OK4H5Y If not what blades would work, I can't afford to buy what's on there as 300.00 for the pair is to far out of my pocket. Can I take normal blades and measure and drill carefully and bolt on the wings to make it high lift? Thanks, Jim
clueless 3,179 #2 Posted June 6 The OEM lift blade has a fairly larger wing on it, it needed for that deck to throw the grass far enough to the bag, a set of high lift blades ain't going to do that well, trust me. Also are the old blades the original blades?
JCD 76 #3 Posted June 6 Thanks for the reply Chris, have you tried hi or med lift blades? I don't need to get every bit of grass into the bags I'd just like the majority of it so I can composte it for the garden, I have to mow about 3 acres and I hate to just leave it in the yard or mulch it. I have no clue if the blades are original I would assume that in 30 years they problably got changed a time or two. I can't tell until I get back up to VA to look at them. Thanks, Jim
