23 Reo 235 #1 Posted June 4, 2025 (edited) I am replacing a very old outside oil filter gasket on my Onan P220. It's the gasket that is placed between the oil filter and the cooling tin. Do I just slide it on to the oil filter and push it until it rests on the tin? A picture would be very helpful. Edited June 4, 2025 by 23 Reo

You are correct. If you have an oil filter that is a bit small, it may not stay in place. I use only Onan 122-0800 or Fleetguard LF3339 filters. 1 2
Ed Kennell 45,609 #3 Posted June 5, 2025 If your grommet is dry and cracked, replace it. If your filter is too small, wrap it with a layer of duct tape. 3

kitkit 140 #9 Posted 19 hours ago thanks everyone for the information. I tried soaking it into hot water putting it on. It was getting close but still wouldn't do it. I think I'll soak it in hot water and run the engine to where the filter is hot and see if that won't stretch it enough to get it on if not, I'm gonna send it back. It doesn't feel like rubbery. It feels more like a rubber vinyl composite or something that's kind of stiff maybe I got the wrong from a bad supplier 1

What brand oil filter are you using?

Never trust a previous owner to install the correct parts and choose quality.
