If you have access to a lathe or machinist friend, The outside of the bronze bushing can be knurled. This may also shrink the inside a little. So they could need to have a fine cut or ream on the inside.

Dont have torch for brazing, wouldnt work on this application as the seal sits right on top of bushing. Would have to have a shop do the knurl and at last I checked $70 an hour minimum. Went with the loctite and is holding very well. Did a google search on it and is widely used for my situation.

Do the axles still fit in those bearings??

Yes, tighter than the old ones. There is still a minimal amount of movement from axle wear.

You are going to want that movement, in fact, do not be surprised if you need to hone the bearing a bit once you get it together.  The differential does not always align the axles straight and a little honing creats a better fit that works.  I had to do that with the 3 p[iece trannies...you may not have to with a 2 piece.

I recommend using Lucus Oil Treament to coat shafts and bearings when you put this together.  Lucus is a lot like STP and will hang on to the gears and bearings.  You do not need to go crazy with this, it is just to lubericate while assembelimg the trans.  :occasion-xmas:

My welder friend charges $50 an hour plus materials but I think he is underpaid. My mechanic is at $125.

$120?  EGADS!!

I don't think my friend would charge me even $30 for that!

Ask them/him "How much without and invoice"  As in under the table coffee money

I have one of those welders from HF. I welded a patch in my truck frame, wasnt pretty. I got in touch with a friend that welds for a living, and has welded for me before. Said $20.He is good and cheap, plus owes me a favor or two which helps.
