1964 Wheel Horse Transaxle Problem

'64 Wheel Horse

6A8D736F-5C25-435D-916C-6C27ACC04B35.heicAll of a sudden it would not move in any of the forward gears or reverse. I checked the belt and tightener and they were fine. I totally dissembled the transaxle and see no worn or broken gears. Any idea what could be wrong?

Did you check to see if the drive pulley was spinning its shaft a sheared key can cause this problem

It looks like you are in 2 gears at the same time.  You need to lift up one of the shift rails (with fork gear) one notch...then lift the other one the same way to be in netral again. 

   One thing you did when taking apart your trans, you removed the right or shallow side.  Everything is now upside down.  It may be easier to remove all the gears and rebuild the trans in the shallow side.  Use this thread to help you put it back together.  

   This was my 1st trans, and I opened it upside down also.  :bow-blue:

Same.

 

After years of working on car transmissions I'm used to the idea that the deep side of a transaxle is the side everything stays in. I was really thrown when I split my case of most of the guts tried to come with the shallow side.
