mcgreg 2 #1 Posted May 22 Hello all, trying to track down a charging problem with my 246h. With motor running, no output from the new or old regulator-alternator, leading me to ask how to check the stator-alternator output with a VM? Fwiw, battery is strong. Tried to search it, well no luck. Appreciate any comments about this issue. Thank you in advance! Greg

Does this engine have a regulator rectifier or is it a single wire low amp system? If it has a reg/rec, here is a good video for trouble shooting. 953 nut 59,168 #4 Posted May 22 Have you checked the 30 amp fuse and the fuse holder? Your charging system starts with the engine's stator which should produce about 36 Volts AC to the voltage regulator while running at full throttle.
mcgreg 2 #5 Posted May 23 Thankyou all for the attached tech data, it was exactly what I needed. My tractor has the double yellow connector to the stator wires and a single red wire connector to battery. Verified the fuse to battery is good, and now am getting about 15 volts on the red battery wire at max rpm. When i first checked it by probing on the red output wire when not connected to battery, got literally about nothing. Same as what was shown in the attached video. So it is all good now with the new regulator and i am back to mowing! Thank you all again for your help!
