More snowblower questions ????

Recommended Posts

Doubletrouble

I was wondering, can you adjust the slack in the drive chain on a WH snowblower? I test ran mine the other day and the chain seems a bit sloppy. Also, I didn't see any grease zerks so I guess you don't lube the bearings? And lastly, would an automotive spray detail wax work on the auger and chute to keep the snow from sticking? Thanks guys for all input, I'm new to snowblowers of any type. I do know I'm sick of shoveling though !!

Sorry, 1 more question: I tried to look up the snowblower on partstree and on toro's site and couldn't find it, the model # is 6 0100 6 and the ser. 771493

The lower chain sprocket is mounted in a slot. Loose the 3/4" nut on its shaft and you can move the sprocket to tighten the chain. One of mine was already moved a far as possible so I had to take out a chain link and readjust the sprockets position. The chain is #40 and you can get half links if necessary.

No grease fitting on the shaft bearings.

I bought an aerosol can of Motorcycle chain lube and spray it on my chain...seems to work well keeping the chain free of rust....

Edit : Do not get the chain too tight it isn't like V belt...

Thanks, I wasn't sure if you could adjust the chain or not. Right now it slaps against the chain gaurd and makes alot of noise.

I adjusted the chain today, Thanks pfrederi. I noticed on the auger it looks like the PO had it way to low and it scraped the heck out of the edge. It left a lip on the side of the edge of the auger. Would it hurt to grind that down so it's smooth again? I'd like to try to get it cleaned up good and maybe a coat or two of rattle can red on there before the snow flies. Just a touch up for now, no major tear down.......yet
