Hydro swap

Recommended Posts

steelman

I’ve got a C160 that has always leaked due to a small crack in the case. Now recently a couple of the hoses are starting to leak. I’ve found a 417 roller with hydro, no engine. I’m wondering if it’s feasible to swap this hydro unit to my C160? Or would it be easier to swap the 16 horse Kohler over to the 417 chassis? Appreciate any thoughts/ suggestions.

I haven’t attempted this swap. But they are different brand hydros so it might not be a simple straightforward swap.

It would be easer to put the engine in the 417, the wiring may be different as the C-160 is battery ignition not sure about the 417 my guess is solid state.

The 16 Kohler will bolt down may need the PTO bracket from the C-160 frame.

Both models have powered ignition.   Engine swap would be easier.

Should only be two wires to the engine.  One for the ignition, one for the voltage regulator.
