More details would be helpful. What model, which engine, symptoms that are happening, things you have checked etc.  The more details the faster to get you going again.

An engine needs three things to operate, Fuel/air mixture, Compression, and Spark. Has this symptom been coming on over time or is it a sudden change? Have you been using gasoline whet ethanol? Ethanol causes problems in the fuel system of small engines and should not be used, you can locate a station the sells real gas at https://www.pure-gas.org/.

This sounds like a fuel delivery problem.   My first step is to insure there is a good supply of fuel to the carburetor.

Remove the spark plug wire to prevent the engine from starting.

Remove  the fuel line at the carburetor and hold it in a container and crank the engine.  There should be a good spurting supply of fuel.

If the fuel supply is good, the problem is in the carburetor.  It may just need cleaned or could be a hole in the float.

If the fuel supply is not good, it could be a dirty filter in the line or a clogged screen on the shut off valve inside the tank, or a bad fuel pump.

Next step would be to remove the fuel line at the fuel pump inlet to check for a good fuel supply to the pump.

If the supply into the pump is good and the supply out is bad, the pump needs to be rebuilt.

If the supply to the pump is bad, the tank shut off valve and/or screen is probably clogged.

It may also be a clogged vent hole in the fuel tank cap, but they usually run for 10 minutes before this causes a shut down.
