Jerry Wenger 2 #1 Posted Monday at 03:41 PM Hi guys, Can anybody help me identify this tractor? Also any input on this engine would be greatly appreciated. I bought it a few weeks ago and have been looking around but didn't find much info on it. I took the carburator off to clean it but never put it back on. I had it running before but it sounded like it was running rich and it was throwing a lot off soot out of the exhaust. It also had a fuel pump on it that I thought was pushing too much fuel into the carb. so I took it off and ran the engine and it ran like tops so I installed it into the tractor then tried to start it but the the engine wouldn't run at all. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

squonk 42,903 #4 Posted Monday at 05:07 PM (edited) Not a 551. Frame work for battery is not there. I'm thinking 401 with non original Tecky Edited Monday at 05:10 PM by squonk 1
953 nut 58,485 #5 Posted Monday at 05:15 PM Good eye Mike. Could be 401, I couldn't see the transmission well enough but it may be a three piece.

wallfish 17,660 #9 Posted Monday at 09:32 PM The hood stand, 3 pc trans, hood with those throttle/choke controls, cast foot pedal. 1961 model 401 That engine may have come with it but it's not original to that particular tractor.

Chris G 3,347 #11 Posted Tuesday at 12:50 AM My guess would be a 401 as well, with a replacement motor.
