It will not turn to tighten belt. I hate to put the channel locks on it for fear of braking it

It could maybe use some penetrating oil, do you have any pb blaster?

:text-yeahthat:. Marvel Mystery Oil, Kroil, Rust Buster are other possibilities.

Time is your friend here, too.  Several applications over several days will likely be needed, as it took some time to rust up.

:text-yeahthat:                                      :confusion-confused:                  If you can remove the mule drive and situate it where the knob is the lowest point the penetrating oil will be able to do the most good.

Right. That's what Oxy-Acetelyne is for.

:scratchead:                          Wouldn't that be a bit rough on the plastic knob?                           :scared-eek:

@John2189  very often refer to  a lubrication creep , most of the stuff I see is  rust bound , especially like the  rusty  cables that sound like a jack saw  0n a threaded rod , nothing moves , what could you possibly do ?  regularly get after  things that are SAPOSED TO MOVE , make the rust run out . 3-1 penetrating oil does a very good job , personally like  super lube  hydraulic oil  , small bottle , on things that already move , keeps them that way , rust dust is your , heads up , pete

One thing I forgot to mention - trying to tighten a stuck bolt slightly will sometimes help to loosen it.  Of course, if you try to tighten it too much the whole head of the bolt will become very loose....

Just a thought on this. You probably know this already but…. To tighten the belt you will be turning the knob  counterclockwise

But yes, it would. I may or may not have only skimmed the begining of the thread and missed that we were working with a plastic knob and not stuck adjusting threads.
