Seems like it’s a pretty decent sized little tractor. How does it compare to maybe the senior? Mainly size and length wise

I have not had them side by side yet, but they are very comparable in size.  The Senior and Lever Steer have 12” front wheels, this has 8”.  But the general size is close.

Not sure what model it is. Think it had a 12 horse in it though.

I've seen them with 12s on the front too. Speedex best models were the 1600s IMO. Big like a Power King and were made about 45 minutes away from me in Ravenna, OH.

I got into a pickle the other day, trying to clean up some ruts from the big earth mover that hauled in my habitat stumps.

:confusion-confused:            Since the Speedex won't do the job perhaps you should let Colleen have a shot at it.            :confusion-shrug:          or not.          :hide:

Big Wheels for the Win!  I have to admit, the 1445 was my first choice for the chore, but it has not near enough weight or traction.  The 1630 just chugged along.

I finally dubbed this one “Speedy.”  Speedy is getting some plow day upgrades!  I did some test and tuning with a new 10” plow that I’ve never had in the ground, and it’ looking like it’ll work out pretty alright.  I’ve removed the coulter wheel and added a tool rod with pin to hold some wrenches in place.  I gave the drawbar a plate that has a pin to slide a trailer tongue over, a spot for a trailer to pin to, or the plow to attach.  Next, I used some scrap metal and leftovers to build a sliding front hanging weight.  It tucks in nearly to the front of the hood when not extended, and runs out a little ways when in use.  The long bar is solid 1.25”x3” steel.  It’s heavy on it’s own, let alone the flywheel bolted to the end.

I picked up these wheel weights from @JoeM a few years back, and they have been collecting dust.  They didn’t quite line up with the holes in the wheels, so I used a step bit to open the wheels up a smidge, used a 13/16” drill bit to open up the holes in the weights, and made up for the 1” difference with bolts at a little angle.  Good enough!  Oil change is complete and I’m ready to go.

You probably won't need weights in this dirt but it looks cool... :thumbs2:

@wallfish would agree, pepper pot mufflers are a little bit too much bang, especially running a 16 horse one lunger all day.

I saw that you posted in the Plow Day section that you were thinking about putting bigger front tire on the Speed X. Would flipping the spindles and steering stuff work to put a taller tire like a 6-12 on it?

I think I see what you mean.  The axle looks like it has no built in camber.  Flip the axle, lose ground clearance, add tall tires, gain it back.

Great idea!!  In theory…

I guess the next step would be to eventually see if it works in practice

I checked it out briefly.  It looks quite promising!  Great idea!
