Is this a 1972 CG 8?

I need a little help identifying this Wheel Horse. It belonged to my wife's Grandpa and I want to bring it back to its original glory. I believe it may be a 1972 CG 8.

:text-welcomeconfetti:  check under the dash straight below the steering wheel for a model and serial number tag.

CG-8 models used a vertical crankshaft Tecumseh engine.

The side discharge mower decks had the discharge on the left side. Blades turned counter-clockwise when looking down on the deck.

Great to see a family Wheel Horse getting some love.             :handgestures-thumbupright:

My guess would be a 1965 Model 875. That was the first year for the hydrostatic transmission. Could be a 1966 or 1967 though    :scratchead:

Wrong decals for an 875.Also 875 did not have an ACR engine. Thinking 876 or 877

I agree on the 65-68 range. The mower deck, if contemporary with the tractor, would be thru ’68.

Looks like you’re missing the motion control lever but otherwise an excellent start for a restoration. Stay in touch and bring your questions here, we’d like to follow along (with pictures, of course 😁).

Assuming the engine is original. 65 was the last year for the ignition retard cam, 66 the first year for the ARC engines, but my 855 has ARC, because the engine is out of a 72.

But yes, the evidence points to an 876 or 877. Any way you cut it, a worthwhile machine that I would love to have.

Where was a 800 Automatic in 1971 and 1972 originally had a 8 HP Briggs.,

Parking brake lever is on the center counsel instead of under the fender, this would make it a 1967 model 877

Thanks everyone! I found the id tag. It is an 877. Now the fun begins. It does start and run sort of. Rebuilding the carb and changing fluids first thing. Gas tank is clean. Good solid restorable 877.
