Fordiesel69 271 #1 Posted May 10 https://www.partstree.com/parts/toro-92-7080/ I have a good spindle housing I need to transplant and in order to complete the job I need to get this pulley and it's attached sleeve off the shaft. It will not budge even with a propane torch. Does anyone have any suggestions how to get this off?
nylyon-(Admin) 8,317 #2 Posted May 10 Probably need to get it hotter than propane can do, may need oxy acetylene to get it to free up.
Fordiesel69 271 #3 Posted May 10 I do not have access to a torch set where it is located. Any other ideas?
adsm08 3,621 #4 Posted May 10 (edited) Take it somewhere you do have a torch set. You could call my mom's cousin Ken. He probably has a torch, not sure if he'd take on a job like that though. I'd do it, but Cousin Ken is a lot closer to you than I am. Edited May 10 by adsm08
Fordiesel69 271 #5 Posted May 10 Is it keyed or threaded on or does it just pull off once heated?
adsm08 3,621 #6 Posted May 10 Pretty sure they are keyed. Typically you put some tension on then heat.
daveoman1966 3,877 #7 Posted May 11 My thots: (1) remove the grease zerk and thread the top nut back on to where it is level with the top of the spindle shaft. (2) remove the blade and set the 'blade end' of the spindle on a SOLID block...(3) this 'block' MUST have a hole in it big enough for the spindle shaft to drop thru (4) hold a hardwood block on top of spindle shaft and, with a suitable BFH, drive the spindle shaft down thru the spindle housing. (5) once the shaft breaks loose, remove the top nut and continue with the BFH until the shaft drops down thru the spindle housing.

My recent experience with this is that the bolts that must be removed from the spindle to allow your plan to work can't be removed until the pulley is off.
