JoeM 8,275 #2 Posted May 10 (edited) the exhaust pipe coming out of the muffler, that is a good reading. The pipe coming out of the head, 600, 700 and ran hard close to 900. There should be a shroud over the muffler that directs air over the muffler and out the front to remove the heat. I have seen people remove that shroud thinking it is a guard for your hand and unnecessary, but it's main function is to remove the heat from the muffler.
