Tommy G 0 #1 Posted 18 hours ago I have a 1987 312-A. Added straight 30 weight oil to the small reservoir as suggested and still having a problem. After about 2 minutes of flat, straight cutting at a steady pace the forward motion slows for a few feet then picks back up again, steady then slow. Slowly in reverse is fine. I bought a trans fluid filter today at a Toro dealer, but the manual that I have doesn't show or say anything about changing the filter on a 312-A. Can anyone think of a possible cause and resolution for this problem? Thank you for your time
oliver2-44 10,375 #2 Posted 7 hours ago You tractor has the Eaton 700 transmission. It does not have a transmission filter. Was it doing this before you added the oil?
mrc 877 #3 Posted 5 hours ago oliver2-44 is right. 312-A has the eaton 700 tranny, which has no filter. the eaton 700 is not recommended for ground engaging attachments. 312-H has the eaton 1100, which does have a filter. the eaton 1100 is a robust tranny and is recommended for ground engaging attachments. sorry i cannot be of more help.
