TC10284 111 #1 Posted April 29 (edited) I have a 210H with Briggs 256707 0119 engine. It came with the incorrect carb. I have tried two different aftermarket carbs and they are sort of harder to find for this engine model. I can get the engine to idle fine. I can get the engine at WOT fine. But as soon as I engage the electric pto to start the mower deck, it surges every second. The best I can get is surging every second. Adjusting the throttle screw on the bottom of the bowl in makes it worse. Adjusting it out makes the engine want to stall. Moving throttle to choke only stalls the engine. Both aftermarket carbs I've tried exhibit similar behavior. I'm not sure what to do to try to eliminate the surging. https://photos.app.goo.gl/uQpPX6dbnwSXqyHz6 Edited April 29 by TC10284

Missing a spring perhaps or the wrong spring.
TC10284 111 #3 Posted April 30 Is it possible it's not getting enough fuel from the gravity fed fuel tank? I don't know if I have a way to setup a temp fuel tank that's higher up than the tank.

TC10284 111 #5 Posted May 8 (edited) I'm not really sure what's wrong with this engine. I finally got it to run "decent" at WOT under load of the mower deck but it still surges some every so often enough to where it's still annoying. I thought it could be a fuel delivery problem, so I tried a 3-5PSI electric fuel pump on it, just to see, but no real change. It's like the gov is too sensitive and I've reset it according to video's I've watched. Edited May 8 by TC10284
Lee1977 7,056 #6 Posted 18 hours ago Not sure how old the engine is, but BS built some in the late eighties or early nines that there isn't much you can do to stop that. I have an 8 HP flat head on a Troy-Bilt tiller that does that, it's a 1989. I got it used may be 7 or 8 years later. I got a new carb kit and gaskets cleaned the carb. didn't make a bit of difference.
