Nuguy2 0 #1 Posted Tuesday at 01:24 PM Just doing some necessary maintenance. Need some information on repair/replacement of the Choke Cable (OEM). The cable to the choke on the carburetor is very hard to operate. Going to try some lubrication and such. Wondering if there is a source for something newer? Thanks Agiin!! Racinbob 11,753 #2 Posted Tuesday at 01:51 PM Identical to my 76 you can snip the z-bend off and remove the cable. Carefully release the lever end by gently opening the squeezed part. Steel wool the cable and lubricate. Get some lube inside the tube. You can get cable lubricator gizmos but I just use spray with one of those little red nozzles. It's a good idea to slide the wire back in and out. It will help get some of the gunky out. After a few times put it back together and it will be smooth. Be careful squeezing the crimpy thing on the control so you don't get it too tight. Lube the pivot points.
