Thetbone 48 #1 Posted April 22 Is there a best practice or source folks have found locally that will look over an engine to make sure everything is good?
stvski80085 178 #2 Posted April 23 You can try to find someone in this group that lives near you maybe. Most of it you can check yourself. Is it running? If so it should be pretty easy. Steve
peter lena 9,110 #3 Posted April 23 @Thetbone found a regular look over , on everything , to be my most beneficial , once I correct / change anything , and it solidly works , usually work that change into , my other tractors . have a fuel top off , never let it go empty , one ounce of STA BIL to that ethanol gas , lubrication touch up ? pto drive belt , smooth quiet / easy ? oil color / state ? recently had a front tire going down , cured that with a , tire break down , silicone grease the beads , solid . like a visible fuel filter, any debris ? probably in carb fuel bowl also . how about corrosive wire connections ? wire chafing ? you have to do something REGULARLY , to maintain that . my 3 are set up the same way , so its easy to notice an issue , how easily do your choke and throttle cables move / respond ? you also have to have the interest , so issues don't multiply , personally see so many neglected units , its just a glairing thing to me , pete
