Andy G 7 #1 Posted April 18 Found a ‘66 1046 rolling frame for dirt cheap. I know they had a different sized engine in them, but does that make it difficult to find an engine that fits? thanks!

It would have had a 10hp Kohler with short oil pan, or left over engines from the 1965 models. Not too difficult to find. Edited April 18 by Achto

953 nut 60,096 #5 Posted April 18 (edited) What engine you use will depend on your intended use for the . If you want to restore it to original you will wand a Kohler K-241 AS, if it is going to be your ride around and have fun with it tractor then anything that fits will work. There are lots of threads on here about engine swaps. The 1965 and 1966 ten horsepower Wheel Horses came with a Kohler K-241 AS engine, which is a bit shorter than the "Large base" Kohler engines. The thread below will show you what to look for. Edited April 18 by 953 nut fat finger 1
WHX?? 51,787 #6 Posted April 18 Cub motors with the short pan work with a little notching in the frame. Same tractor as a 1045 but with the "newer" seat pan. A 1046 is somewhat of a rare one. Don't see them come up here often. I don't think they made a lot of them. Like Dan said just using up motors from '65 and the trend was going to long frames and the soon to come six speeds. Shouldn't be too hard to find the correct Kohler. 1
