Vintage Wheelhorse Wheel weights value

Recommended Posts

FLtractor

Evening,

Another thread I started on here I asked the pros cons of fluid filled tires vs wheel weights. Was told for my towing purposes I shouldn’t need either. But I did recently come across this on marketplace. No idea how much they weigh.. and would be a 400 mile round trip if I did get them. Any idea what they are worth? Are they rare being Wheelhorse? Would they have any trade value at the Big Show? Or easy resale to someone up north who could use them?

Thank you

Those look like the newer plastic shell/concrete filled weights. In general plastic weights seem to be worth 1$ a pound and steel weights are worth 2$ pound.

Those plastic/concrete weights are very common in my area (eastern PA).It wouldn't be worth driving 400 miles for them if they were free. I don't recall exactly what they weigh. I think 40-50 pounds.

I once paid $100 for a set in a little worse shape than that. I was just getting into Wheel Horses, and overpaid. Later, I bought a NOS set for $60 (located 2 miles from my house), and sold them for $80, ironically, to the guy I bought the $100 set from.

I'd normally say wit for a set to show up locally, but since you're in FL, it might be a long, long wait.

I have had those exact weights before. I paid 60 dollars for them. I have similar Craftsman 55 pounds each that I painted and are on my 875 that I plow with.paid 50 for them.  They are better then no weights but I wouldnt pay alot for them.

I have a similar, set with the Case logo embossed in the center. The fellow I bought them from ($50?) said he had them from new but used them for only one season because they were too much of a pain to mount. He switched to fluid in the tires.

I see the 40 pound plastics with WH or Craftsman stickers quite often for cheap.      This is the first 75 pound set I found.   Because they are wider, they balanced on the end of the lift and by jacking up and rotating the wheel, they were easier to align the bolt holes than the thinner 40 pounders.105_0800.JPG.7dbb6becc459e1a661d7e132d5341540.JPG
