defed 0 #1 Posted September 14, 2009 i have two D-auto snowblowers....one is a 96-48ST01 and the other is XX-48ST01 (can't see the 1st digits). one has a small sprocket on the jackshaft that drives the auger, and the other is about 3x larger in diameter. when looking up the parts lists....models 86/96-48ST01 use sprocket 200401 (bigger) and 66/76-48ST01 use sprocket 200121 (smaller). presume i have one of these as the mystery model. anyone know why they used 2 sizes? i see on some drawings there is a direct drive coupling like the D-250 used...was one of these for direct drive (larger sprocket) and one for pulley drive (smaller sprocket)? on the front end of the rear pto shaft, there is a splined stub, and there is a cover plate that can be removed from the tractor for direct drive access. i need to use the one w/ the large sprocket, but i think it spins WAY too fast w/ pulley drive. i can use the smaller sprocket, but i have to put new bearings in it. thanks, Dave
d180man 5 #2 Posted September 14, 2009 Hi do you have some photos but all of them we have looked at is belt drive and the d250 is direct drive! that i know? :hide:
defed 0 #3 Posted September 14, 2009 hey d180man, ok, i think i figured it out. as was posted about a month ago by baerpath, the D-250 and D-auto blowers are basically the same except the mounting bracket and the way it drives off the tractor. so i am technically using a D-250 blower...96-48SX01. initially, i thought everything on the blower itself was the same, but i didn't scroll down the parts list far enough. it does show 2 different sprockets, but the alternate parts are way at the bottom. so it looks like i just have to put the smaller sprocket on it. also, i initially thought it showed a pulley and direct drive coupling under the D-auto page, and just a direct drive coupling under the D-250 page....but i think it shows both models on the same page...just like it shows both mounting systems on the same page. there is only one page specific to the D-250 and that is for the hydraulics (4 pages total). so yes, it does appear that all D-autos are belt drive!
