defed 0 #1 Posted September 13, 2009 does anyone have a clear manual page of the belt tensioner for the D-auto? i have a pdf manual from toro, but you can't see anything in the pics. i don't quite understand how it works, or if i even have it positioned correctly. thanks, Dave
defed 0 #2 Posted September 13, 2009 i did figure out how the tensioner works, but something doesn't seem right about how the gear box mounts in the front tach-o-matic. the whole gear box can tilt backwards (changing belt tension slightly), since it is only held in place by the rod in the tach-o-matic. it can't tilt frontwards because there are tabs sticking out the back of the mounting assembly that hit the frame of the tractor. should the whole assembly be able to rock up? seems like i'm missing something, but i don't see anything that i don't have in the parts list. there is a flat piece of steel sticking off the top of the mounting bracket at an angle that seems to serve no purpose....is it just a handle? defed 0 #4 Posted September 14, 2009 it's a mutt snowblower! i am using a 96-48SX01 for the main blower, but the mounting and drive system is from a 66/76-48ST01. i will try to read the # again but i think the rivet thru the tag is covering the 1st two digits. i presume any model that has the right angle gear box mounted to the front tach-o-matic will be the same. i think i have everything correct, but the gear box bracket seems awfully wobbly, and when i lock the tensioner, it pulls the whole assembly up, affecting belt tension some.
