I've been waiting for a plow to fit my 414-8  to present itself.  I am completely unknowledgeable on plows.  Does this need anything else to install & work?  How does one raise & lower it.

Thanks!

You need the rear axle bracket only and that is all. They can be had at the big show easily.

Then I will take it.  Thank you.  I may ask for help identifying said bracket at the show if it's ok.

There should be a solid lift link that attaches to the same rocker-shaft arm your deck's lift link attaches to. Then you use the existing implement lift mechanism.

A piece of chain can be used, but I have found it can cause "float". Basically a flexible link can allow the plow to ride over denser spots, like where you may have already driven, while a solid link allows you to bring the whole weight of the tractor to bear on those spots.

Thank you for the explanation.  Now I can figure out the installation!

Yeah, installing a plow is on par with putting a wheel on a German car for difficulty. Figuring out how everything goes together is easy, holding it there while you get the hardware put in is the hard part.

Sparky

657 with a Magnum pullstart 8hp. Starts easy and runs great. No battery to maintain :handgestures-thumbupright:. Choke and throttle operate as they should and the factory ignition key is the kill switch for it.
This was a project I did a few years ago to make it “similar” to a 1045 with the square hood and open rear fenders.
Comes as you see it (wheels, tires stack-exhaust, rear hitch, seat etc) and will have a FULL TANK of ethanol free fuel so you can cruise around the show as much as you want. Perfect cruiser for the young-uns!
   $250 brought to the show.
