peter lena 9,108 #8 Posted March 17 @morning moon farms WELCOME ! done a number of decks over , not that difficult , major issues are related to bearing noise / roughness / lubrication failure . typically all spindle bearings , as well as mule drive pulley bearing s , are the same 6203 3/4 2rsc3, with easily popped off grease shields , like a small fine putty knife or small flat pocket screwdriver , wipe out original lube , carb cleaner flush out , repack with LUCAS XTRA HD green chassis grease , polyurea rated and 550 deg flash point , imagine , no bearing whine or noise , just smooth easy engagement . that entire pto lever set up , can easily be changed into a very efficient , attachment . have also done related pto lever start , next to battery . cause and reason for related failure , is wrong original lubricant in those bearings , made for a ceiling fan , was never intended for heavy belt loading / drag , hi speed . good luck with it , pete
