hydro fan question

Recommended Posts

perry

im gonna have a few post on here toninght. i got to get them wrote down before i forget.

CRS sydrome ya know

on the 1277 the hydro fan is a thinner more flexible curved fan. and on the 877 the fan is solid aluminum and has more straighter fins. are one of these a replacement. both being the same year and trans i thought it was odd to have totally different fans  .

It looks to me the like the one on the 1277 is the original fan, and the other one might be a home built replacement. It will probably be fine, but I think if it was mine I would try to give it the same bend as the one on the 1277. Those straight blades won't move much air.

ditto.gif on what Jim said  the one on the 877 will not cool aswell as the one on the 1277! you will need to either bend the blades or replace it all together :D they show up on ebay now and then

Hi Perry, For what it's worth, the fan in the first pic looks like the one on my 1077. Glad to see you're getting it together !

The one on my 1075 looks just like the one on your 1277.

I'd try to find another fan, I don't know if being out of balance would hurt  being that small an light, But.... Better safe than sorry.

Perry let me dig around in my parts boxes...I may have a few of them?

I agree with everyone else though...never seen one like your 2nd picture.

All have been like pic 1 or the molded plastic fans.

Maybe you could find one of those "old-school" defroster fans from a bus or an old Mack and swipe the blades out of it.

You might need to drill some holes to mount it to the trans pulley, but I bet it would work. (as long as it turns the right way)

Perry,

It sounds like everyone answered your question. I was late, again, but I would just confirm everyone's opinion/advice. The straight fan on your 877 wouldn't be as efficient moving air as the curve one.
