perry 82 #1 Posted February 13, 2008 just got in <_< . 5-6" of snow and still comeing down heavy. mixed me a double hot chocolate and peppermint schnapps to warm me up . you outta try it sometime...yummy . anyways i did worked on the 1277 most the day. got the new belt on and suited it up for plowing snow. i am really impressed. she ran like a champ and pushed snow good. i love that hydro lift & down pressure . ill have to get some front chains on and then we'll be good to go. thanks to tricycle terry on his great find i decided to put the new fan guard on the 1277 and the older guard on the 877. Kelly 1,033 #2 Posted February 13, 2008 Wow, I didn't know it would pick the front that far up. Yes we're getting the same stuff, about 5" so far. I see you got a aftermarket blue belt. seem to work ok? never tried one on a hydro. Like I said before you don't have to stop the belt to change gears, so it should work. No Popeye arm with hydro lift!
Rollerman 290 #3 Posted February 13, 2008 Looks good Perry...glad you finally found a horse you are happy to plow on!
perry 82 #4 Posted February 13, 2008 yep the darn garbage blue belt. but it seemed to work ok tonight. i was out today and stop at a few place's that did'nt have the right belt. i was up in LK orion / oxford and stop at a newer true value hardware store in a strip mall. i could'nt belive it. they took over a store next to them and expanded. they are now a hardware / outdoor power supply and small engine repair shop. couple fellas in the late 20's where running the parts counter and i gave them the 78" x 1/2" size i needed. he walk out with that blue belt . i happen to glance on a shelf and saw a row of toro paint. so i gave it a shot and told him the toro oem belt number you guys found me. with out even looking at the computer he stood up off the stool and said oh! wheel horse belt, ill be right back . i was definitly shocked. sure get tired of dealing with idiots at all these box stores and auto part place's. but they did not stock that belt. so thats why i bought the blue one. ill order a nice oem one soon. Kelly 1,033 #5 Posted February 13, 2008 If that belt works don't change it. I have blue belts on a few of mine , I just have to be carfull changing gears or it grinds. The ones with the oem belts don't
Stigian 1,234 #6 Posted February 13, 2008 Now thats what i call down pressure Handy for changing the front wheels
T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,589 #7 Posted February 13, 2008 Perry, I'm also surprised how much the down pressure lifts the front end off the ground. I have hydraulic lift on my C-141, maybe I should make me that long link so I too can have down pressure. Hmmm.
Michcruiser60 0 #8 Posted February 13, 2008 Looks like your 1277 with it's winter gear on never skipped a beat. To keep the front down on the ground, run a chain from the axel to the frame of the blade. High ol' Silver(Red) away!
TT-(Moderator) 1,160 #9 Posted February 14, 2008 Hey Perry..... How does this "old girl" rate for traction? Any better than the B-100? I see you have "tighteners" on the tire chains too (and less PSI too?) -- I'm curious as to whether you think it works better that way.
perry 82 #10 Posted February 14, 2008 i just used it for a short while tuesday night. it seemed to have pretty decent traction. i just could'nt steer it. i robbed the rear tires and snow blade off the B100. and im going to steal the fronts with chains off the 877. and the the 877 will get retired and go into hibernation. i have worked that poor little tractor to death and it has definitly payed its due's. i only payed $50 for it a few years ago and have not done nothing but the usual maintenace. i would love to start going threw my little baby{877} and get some paint on her. now for the B100 i have other plans .
