WHX?? 53,970 #27 Posted January 9 (edited) So counter guy said Advance/Car Quest filters were made by Mann-Hummel. A German outfit. I beg to differ since this one says Baldwin. Either way I'm done with NAPA crap. Just for s & g I called NAPA on a 1410. Told 34.95 and didn't have one on the shelf. Told them to recheck the price i got 7 hydros to feed. Just to make them easier to change ... my personal fav style of wrench. Edited January 9 by WHX??

It had an ancient red WH filter on it. Went to Napa. First thing I noticed was the box was plain cardboard and cheaply made. Instead of the old wax coated boxes they used to have. Now we all spout "Made in America!! I don't want any Chinesium and other such baloney. The next thing I notice is the label. "Contents Made in USA" Great! I take it home and open the box. The next thing I notice is the filter isn't wrapped in cling wrap like almost all hydraulic filters are or used to be. Oh well. now I go to put some oil on the gasket and I notice this horrendous looking crimp job on the filter! Now compare it to a used 1410 that I had kicking around to flush a hydro if I ever needed to. You can see the difference. The weird looking filter is on. We'll see. Next time I'm going to have to order a WIX and see what I get. I just ordered some 51410 WIX from Fleet Filter they stated they were made in North Carolina WIX was in Gastonia, NC when I worked there back in 1969. They stated that WIX no longer makes NAPA Gold.

Beap52 1,881 #36 Posted 23 hours ago I've been researching oil filters for my pickup. I have always used AC Delco but notice the ones sold at Walmart are China made. I've spent a fair amount of time and have decided to use Purolator One filters. They are suppose to be made in America. These filter smaller particles than the AC Delcos and have a bi-pass as well. I have not invested in them yet. There are several guys on the internet who cut open filters and compare different brands. They evaluate what's inside, how they are sealed on the ends, how much filtration material is inside. I wonder if someone has investigated the filters talked about in this post? Also love the grocery pick up I cant remember last time I was actually in store. Yeah I can when I returned 2 3.50-8 Deestones I mis ordered the other day, was trying to order 4.00"s. Another reason I like using them could just take back to store and didn't have to try and send them back through mail.

There used to be several pricing structures used for different items. I'm assuming I'm on "Master Installer" pricing for filters. A few years back My price was over $20 for the filter. I complained enough to where they gave be the better rate. 1
