C-160's coming together

Recommended Posts

kj4kicks

OK Guys, you've heard me rambling on about these 160's, so here's the progress report: It is faster and easier to do 2 at a time. Order 2 (or 4) of everything, make all the painting mess at one time, etc. They are both painted, wet sanded, and buffed.

First up is the 1975 model. Special THANKS to Tickster for hooking me up with a Sundstrand, which will soon find it's new home on this machine. The original had "issues" , and Stephen had a good used spare. Otherwise, it's about ready to roll:

Front wheel with what I think is the correct color paint:

Now the '76 model:

Time to call TD to order some decals !

Thanks for your bandwidth....

That's not a smile Perry, that's a "come get some" GRIN...

Eldon, beautiful work Sir!

Can't wait to see it all done! Do you have the LED headlights in that one?

Thanks Guys !!

Stephen, box up that Pond, and send her on over !

Kevin, They're the baby halogens that are direct replacements for the original 1156 bulbs. Somewhere around here is a thread called "Bright Lights" that has the numbers for them.

As for the  grin, well, you just gotta smile !! Makes people wonder what you're really up to....

Eldon, your paintjobs are really, well, STUNNING!

Looks like your argument over "get what you pay for" paint is justified!

Wow!

I'm gonna get some of those bulbs, too.

The paint on both of these is the Valspar Restoration series, with hardener. I let everything cure about a week before wet-sanding them. That felt like the longest week ever !

You're kidding me! I've had a quart of it since Christmas and haven't opened it yet!

Of course, I don't have a buffer, but I CAN CHANGE THAT!

Again- Great job Eldon!

Nope, no kiddin' ! The hardener is the key, though. Otherwise, you'll be waiting a LONG time for it to set up, and I don't think you'll get it to shine as much.

Wet sanded with 2000 and a touch of Ivory dish soap. The very first pic happens to have the compounds on the shelf in the background. 3M compound and polish, and Wizard's Master Shine.

Eldon--if'n it wouldn't be too much trouble--how about a couple close-up pics of the hyd. hose/valve/lever area?

I'm working on a '75 C-120, but I have two hyd. set ups off a 160 I want to install as I work around this beast..

Any pics of the rear hook up would be appreciated, too.

Twist my arm a lot--and I'll even treat you to a cup of coffee @ the show in June!

That's the nicest parts tractor I've ever seen! Eldon, you need to change your signature. Once again, you have done an outstanding job, I can't wait to see them with the decals on em!

Eldon,

Eldon,

What can I say that hasn't already been said. Just fantastic. Words don't begin to describe it. It took my several days to load all the pictures on dial-up, , just kidding, but it was worth it. I bring my C-141 over and you can perform that magic on it. :D Both are stunning machines. Maybe I need to go get that C-160 Automatic that's close to me and maybe it would look half that good when I'm done. Nah, you're the man.
