kj4kicks 154 #1 Posted February 12, 2008 OK Guys, you've heard me rambling on about these 160's, so here's the progress report: It is faster and easier to do 2 at a time. Order 2 (or 4) of everything, make all the painting mess at one time, etc. They are both painted, wet sanded, and buffed. First up is the 1975 model. Special THANKS to Tickster for hooking me up with a Sundstrand, which will soon find it's new home on this machine. The original had "issues" , and Stephen had a good used spare. Otherwise, it's about ready to roll: Front wheel with what I think is the correct color paint: Now the '76 model: With the sleeve hitch & drawbar: With the new hydraulic lift hoses: Time to call TD to order some decals ! Thanks for your bandwidth.... Eldon.

combatmp29r 27 #4 Posted February 12, 2008 They look great Eldon. If my newly aquired C160 wasn't alreasy spoken for in a horse trade I believe she might have had to gotten some R&R restoration & Reuse
kpinnc 14,244 #5 Posted February 12, 2008 looks like the one in the last pic is smileing at ya . That's not a smile Perry, that's a "come get some" GRIN... Eldon, beautiful work Sir! Can't wait to see it all done! Do you have the LED headlights in that one? Kevin
kj4kicks 154 #6 Posted February 12, 2008 Thanks Guys !! Stephen, box up that Pond, and send her on over ! Kevin, They're the baby halogens that are direct replacements for the original 1156 bulbs. Somewhere around here is a thread called "Bright Lights" that has the numbers for them. As for the grin, well, you just gotta smile !! Makes people wonder what you're really up to....
kpinnc 14,244 #7 Posted February 12, 2008 Eldon, your paintjobs are really, well, STUNNING! Looks like your argument over "get what you pay for" paint is justified! Wow! I'm gonna get some of those bulbs, too. Kevin
kj4kicks 154 #8 Posted February 12, 2008 Thanks Kevin. Here's the link to the lights: http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/index.php?showtopic=386 The paint on both of these is the Valspar Restoration series, with hardener. I let everything cure about a week before wet-sanding them. That felt like the longest week ever !
kpinnc 14,244 #9 Posted February 12, 2008 The paint on both of these is the Valspar Restoration series, with hardener. You're kidding me! I've had a quart of it since Christmas and haven't opened it yet! Of course, I don't have a buffer, but I CAN CHANGE THAT! Again- Great job Eldon! Kevin
kj4kicks 154 #10 Posted February 12, 2008 Nope, no kiddin' ! The hardener is the key, though. Otherwise, you'll be waiting a LONG time for it to set up, and I don't think you'll get it to shine as much. Wet sanded with 2000 and a touch of Ivory dish soap. The very first pic happens to have the compounds on the shelf in the background. 3M compound and polish, and Wizard's Master Shine.

glenn27 71 #13 Posted February 12, 2008 Eldon--if'n it wouldn't be too much trouble--how about a couple close-up pics of the hyd. hose/valve/lever area? I'm working on a '75 C-120, but I have two hyd. set ups off a 160 I want to install as I work around this beast.. Any pics of the rear hook up would be appreciated, too. Twist my arm a lot--and I'll even treat you to a cup of coffee @ the show in June!
nylyon-(Admin) 7,845 #14 Posted February 12, 2008 That's the nicest parts tractor I've ever seen! Eldon, you need to change your signature. Once again, you have done an outstanding job, I can't wait to see them with the decals on em!
Greg B. 1 #15 Posted February 12, 2008 Eldon, All I can do is echo all of the above sentiments. Beautiful horses. Greg B.
T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,589 #16 Posted February 12, 2008 Eldon, What can I say that hasn't already been said. Just fantastic. Words don't begin to describe it. It took my several days to load all the pictures on dial-up, , just kidding, but it was worth it. I bring my C-141 over and you can perform that magic on it. Both are stunning machines. Maybe I need to go get that C-160 Automatic that's close to me and maybe it would look half that good when I'm done. Nah, you're the man.
kj4kicks 154 #17 Posted February 12, 2008 Thanks Guys !! I found a few decals from my last TD order, so I put them on this morning: Glenn, I think this is what you wanted: There are 6 more pics of the hydraulic setup HERE
