perry 82 #1 Posted February 12, 2008 went tonight and picked this 753 up 25 miles away for $60 . doesent look to bad, but the motor spins freely and the rear axle is locked up. i think a rod is broke and prombaly has water in the trans. i did get the belt guard but NO hood or gas tank . i did'nt have time to check it out much. i got there made my offer loaded it and then did a dump and run at the house. ill get out tomarrow and give it a good once over. good things come in 3's right?. whats gonna be the next one . TT-(Moderator) 1,160 #4 Posted February 12, 2008 I see you going to investigate these: Wheel Horses in Pontiac, MI.
kpinnc 14,251 #5 Posted February 12, 2008 Perry, From the looks of your 753, I'd make sure the brake band isn't rusted to the drum. I've seen several appear to have a locked tranny, and it was nothing more than rust holding everything up from the outside. At least I hope that's what is doing it, because it's an EASY fix... Good luck! Kevin
combatmp29r 27 #6 Posted February 12, 2008 Hey good idea TT. Perry if you do go check them out Mod racer would be interested in that vertical shaft front blade in the one pic.

pond195520032003 27 #8 Posted February 12, 2008 Perry, nice tractor if the engine turnes free(no ompression) it could has a valve stuck open anyway it looks like the front of the dash/gas tank was cut off i just saw a couple on evilbay earlier also saw a couple hoods like was mentioned earlier it could have the brake band froze to the drum

TT-(Moderator) 1,160 #15 Posted February 12, 2008 hey TT what are you doing snooping around in my nieghborhood . i have been watching those in pontiac. he is a little pricey. i have made some contact and will prombaly get over there when the weather breaks a little. looks like he has a whole yard full of stuff. prombaly only about 10min away also. Nothing intentional, Perry..... I just did a Google search for "Craigslist wheelhorse" and they turned up in one of the results. By the way -- I like your "new" 753 (except the cold hard metal seat ) and I also agree that the transaxle probably has an internal ice cube. :P
