69 Charger 12 new to me

Recommended Posts

WildR100

I just picked up a 1969 Charger 12 and would like to put it back into running shape (but the refurbished/restored ones on this site got my juices flowing). I have not been around any lawn/garden tractors, just motorcycles and trucks (and old VWs) The wiring has been butchered and what I need help with right know is knowing what parts I need. The PO had wired the starter to the battery through a car push button starter switch. The run/off switch was a toggle. It has a Kroler engine that may be original. I plan on using a solenoid like the 80s Ford truck.

Do I need a starter switch for a magneto or a regular switch?

Robert,

First of all let me be the first to say :scratchead:

The best advice I can give you at this point is to take a ton of up close pictures. I would then download them on to your computer and set up a Photobucket account (which is free) you then can post pictures here on the forum and have others comment on what you need, what is correct, and what should be fixed if that is route you are wanting to go.

Picture posting using Photobucket is listed as one of the threads and is fairly easy to do once you get the hang of it.

Plenty of advice here on the forum to help. I would hate to count up all of the years of expertise........it would definitely be mind blowing!

Glad ya found us!

Welcome from me as well!!!

You should get a repair manual or at least a wiring diagram. A new ignition switch is a good idea. Perhaps eBay will have one. Or a member on here may have one.
