IthacaJeff 151 #1 Posted September 2, 2009 WH'ers; Okay, perhaps my most stupid question ever (I'm sure my wife would disagree!), but here goes. . . I'm wanting to check the gap on my breaker points on my 416 with a Kohler K341, but I don't know where it is. The wires from the coil go to the condenser bolted to the engine, but then the wires snake under and into the blower housing. Do I need to take off the engine baffles to set my ignition timing? Thanks, Jeff in Ithaca
Kelly 1,028 #2 Posted September 2, 2009 Sitting on the tractor the right front of the engine is a tin box with a wire going in to it, and two reg. screws holding it on your points are in there.
IthacaJeff 151 #3 Posted September 8, 2009 Kelly, Sorry for the late thanks, but I've been away from my computer all week. I'll check it out later today. . . thanks again. Jeff
FrankinWNY 12 #4 Posted September 10, 2009 Hi Jeff, you may be looking at the wire that goes to the magneto, I think the 416 came with the Magnum engine, not the K-341. the Magnum does not have points, condensor, and coil. Unless you have removed the flywheel, there is nothing to set. Frank in WNY :scratchead:

One is a Kohler 16 hp K-341, another is a Kohler 16 hp M-16, and a Onan P16.
IthacaJeff 151 #6 Posted September 11, 2009 Frank: Yup, it is a K341 with a coil. My 310 with an M10 does not have a coil, which is one reason I don't have experience with the type of ignition on the K341. By the way, the plow set up you sold me several years ago is going strong on the 310-8. I just used it to help scape down grass to create a level and grass-free spot for a post frame shed I'll be building on some new land we have. Not really the best tool for the job, but ya' gotta use what ya' got. Thanks all, Jeff
