Finding the date of manufacture 416-H

Recommended Posts

jchris

Recently picked up a 416-H. I have tried to identify it's DOM but having difficulty. I have attached what I was able to find on the rear fender under and beside the seat, but unsure if this is all the information I need as it seems to not line up with what's required.  I have briefly searched the forum,  and apologize in advance if I've missed it. Important to finding the owners and service manuals I presume. Any help is appreciated.

Looks to be about a 1990 model, though I only did a quick google search.

Two pages of results with a 41-16OE01 search

The bottom box of the decal would have had the Julian build date stamped on it.

Julian build date would have been the DOM?

Thank you btw for the parts breakdown

41-160E01  should be a 1990 model.

When they had enough parts to build a batch of a model they assigned the serial numbers and build date. They were actually built following that date.

New models for the following year were released in the current year. This confused the dater as they seemed to think say a 1977 model built in 1976 deserved a 7xxx build date.

First digit - year

Next 3 digits - the day of the year 001 to 365
