Rick3478 438 #1 Posted June 8, 2024 When the wings are worn off so much that a side discharge deck doesn't discharge out the side anymore? Yeah I think it's time.
ri702bill 9,358 #2 Posted June 8, 2024 Rick - yes. Remember, the blades do 95% of their cutting at the tips. Those used blades were a low lift version and the wings are all but gone. The new set are a high lift set - not thrilled with the tooling marks from sharpening - you may wish to dress the edges before use with a fine file....... will cut better than the old ones. Old ones can be used for wind chimes !!! 1
peter lena 9,239 #3 Posted June 9, 2024 @Rick3478 agree with @ri702bill on the blade swap , another thing I do is use a small fine file , to lightly touch up my blades , to minimize metal removal , how easily does your PTO MUEL DRIVE BELT MOVE , the deck at the side of engine point ? the details of deck drive rotation , most of my neighbors , have screeching / screaming belt engagement , what could that possibility be? imagine those decks are spinning much slower , than they are saposed to moving at . seen some very sick decks , just some thoughts , pete
