Jim Sheaffer 11 #1 Posted May 23, 2024 Sorry folks that I have to do this, but I've got an older 42in side discharge deck with aluminum Double D spindles on it. I have no idea of the model or serial numbers of this deck either. Two of the three spindles have grease fittings on them, one does not. The one without has indications the bearing is starting to fail. Before it tears up the shaft, could someone help ID the captured needle bearing and the ball bearing for me. Thank you very much guys. gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,454 #2 Posted May 23, 2024 Here is a list of the decks in the order they were produced. If you go into our Files and do a search for a model number the pages from the spindle identification charts have been added to each model file. Nothing to download. peter lena 9,246 #3 Posted May 24, 2024 @Jim Sheaffer what ever those bearings are perfect opportunity to remove the grease side shields and re grease them , use the lucas green chassis grease , xtra hd 550 deg flash point , they have the rubber side shields , use a small flat putty knife or small flat pocket screwdriver , carefully remove both shields , wipe out original grease , carb cleaner for flush , repack to same amount , and press seals in place , no whyining noise , solid smooth / quiet . have that set up on my 3 decks , no whyining , bearing noise , really makes a difference . you can also do the same thing to the 4 mule drive bearings , PTO drive , inner needle bearing , replace the outer sealed cone bearing , napa has it . you can even snug up the pto sloppy lever , if interested . pete
