Old Kohler k series not have crosshatch on cylinders?

Based on the lack of knock, and lack of piston slap on two of my c160s k341s and being thst the throttle shafts are nice and tight I see no evidence on the carbon ridge or on the cylinder walls where there ever was a cross hatch pattern.  Even on my magnums with high hours I still see a leftover pattern. Is it possible they did not have any back then or did it wear off?  Again hardly any piston slap and no oil burning.

Measure the cylinder at various places to determine wear.  I have never heard of a new bore without a cross hatch.

Cross-hatching is essential for the ring to seal properly. At the very least you need some sort of semi-horizontal scoring for proper sealing and oil control.
