417-A Hobby?

Recommended Posts

Imakecups

I got a 417-A with a 42” deck for free and after some TLC it is up and running strong. Now I picked up a plow and snowblower. Does this hobby stop at some point?

It goes from a hobby to an addiction. Once you get one you’ll always need another. That looks like a pretty sweet machine, blower, and blade.

:text-welcomeconfetti:to the :rs:    Looks like it has the hydraulic lift so it will have the Eaton 1100 hydro.

The Eaton 1100 and the Kohler twin 17 are a great combo for a snow machine.

Generally it goes away when they sell off your estate.  :confusion-shrug:  Good news, is you’ll be in good company until then!

I'd take that a step further.

My Trina and I have over a dozen in various states.

She has 5 from the mid 60s.

I have 8 from the mid 70s.

We've done half a dozen full frame off nut n bolt restorations.

To us it's FAR more than a hobby.

We repair them.

We build them.

We maintain them.

More importantly.. we USE them.

We have several implements. All our restored tractors are put to great task.

Hobby?  Sure.

And also a practical way of life using our permanent equipment.

You have a snow thrower, a blade and one Wheel Horse.  Looks like you are a Wheel Horse short to me.

I just got a 417-A and need to get operator and parts catalogs as it needs tender loving care! Tried to find on the Forum but having trouble figuring the process out! Can anyone help? Gary Wood

Still would like actual tractor parts and operator manuals. I now have the Kohler motor manual and wiring diagram, thanks to you!

Nope. It just passes from one generation to the other.

...So far at least.
