Shuboxlover 480 #1 Posted August 28, 2009 I have a 1981 GT1142 that runs/mows great and is in pretty good original condition. 42" deck is solid and quiet. Rear blade/tiller hitch. Sorry, no pics, but I would say it is definitely in average to good condition. What do you think I should ask for it locally? thanks
whfan74 2,071 #2 Posted August 28, 2009 Best thing for you to do is post a picture. Tractors are tougher to "Blue Book" than a vehicle would be. Then I am sure more would be willing to jump in and give you a decent evaluation of what it may be worth. Good luck!

Rollerman 290 #4 Posted August 28, 2009 Shuboxlover this is one of the most common questions asked here & the hardest to answer. You may want to check out this thead... http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/index.php?showtopic=3553 Being the Work Horse 1142 is kinda a stripped down model with an aluminium bore B&S engine. The tractor doesn't hold it's value like other models. The implements like your deck & hitch do though.
Shuboxlover 480 #5 Posted August 28, 2009 Sorry guys, I didn't know I was being "that guy" Anyway, I will get a pic of it and post it (how do I do that?) That way you can give me a fair assessment. I just basically want to know if it is only worth $100, or if it's worth $500 (or more), but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it (or at least when I get a picture up) until then (maybe tonight)
Shuboxlover 480 #6 Posted August 28, 2009 Ok here is the pic. Model# A1-114201 Story...mows absolutely great, runs really good. rusty were there are small scratches. everything is there (mule drive, 42" deck WITH NO HOLES, rear tiller/plow hitch. I bought two of these (they are identical) but the others engine is out. It's deck has a small 1" hole in the typical spot, it also has the rear hitch. I bought them both for $250 (was it a good buy), and am using the "good" one until I get my GT1642 restored. So I am curious what the "good" one is worth. I live in Nebraska. Thanks for you input Tyson Attached Image (Click thumbnail to expand)
whfan74 2,071 #7 Posted August 29, 2009 Honestly...........without trying to be offensive and please don't take it that way.........but I would pay maybe $150-$175 for what I see in the picture. That is just a ball park. It is hard for me to say but I am really not in the market for that horse so it is hard to say. For me.........I would possibly sell the attachments off and get some decent money for them seperately. I don't like to part out a tractor unless I absolutely have to. What we pay for them is all dependent on what we think they are worth, and we sell them for the same reasons. It is really hard to pinpoint an exact price. I would price it locally for around $325 and let someone talk me down a bit if need be.
