Tractor Tire size too wide for fitting inside mower deck rear axle wheels?

Recommended Posts

will a 42 s.d. mower deck rear axle wheels be spaced wide enough to work on a C tractor -- or 300 - 400 - 500 series if tractor is using 10.5 tires? I could go change the tractor tires from 9.5 to 10.5 but thought if anyone knew the answer? i'm wondering if the deck wheels are far enough apart to not hit the rear tractor tires? thanks

just measured  - actually the 10.5 tire is on a deep well rim -- which are 2 inches deeper than the rim the 9.5 is on so its both issue of the tire size as well as rim depth -- appears there is  maybe 1/2 to 1 inch clearance between the mower deck wheel and the tractor tire on ach side of tractor  --

have not run it yet in yard but thinking that's not adequate clearance considering the mower deck has some movement on the attachamatic -

wondering also if the i.d. dimension between mower tires of a 42 r.d. vs 42 s.d. of mower deck rear axle is the same? Any insights or experinces to share would be appreciated?

I have wide tires on my woods beater 314-8 with a 42SD deck.  You have to find rims with the right offset.  The wide rims from WH 520's push the tires too far out for the smaller mower decks.  Cub Cadet rims left me with about 1/4" clearance between the inner sidewall and fender supports, perfect for scraping off mud.

I have a C100 running 23x10.5-12 ag tires with the 42SD and it is fine.  No rubbing or anything.  It looks tight as yours does but it isn’t an issue in use.  Go for it!

I run my 42 inch deck on 10.50 tires and 2 inch spacers on the wheels. It's close, but it fits. I've had no issues with the gauge wheels rubbing the tires.
